If there were a version of the contest Misha's currently involved in, which one of my cats would I submit? The strong yet gentle and nurturing Curzon? The ever-royal, always-smiling beauty that is Jadzia? Or the regal charming prince Nimbus? I can't decide! Curzon isn't one for being pampered, and Jadzia's not big on crowds, but Nimbus isn't big on outdoors at all! So it'd have to be an indoor cat contest... but still! Needless to say, GO MISHA GO!
As some of you know (if you've kept up muwahaha) Nimbus' birthday was Sunday and it went splendid, as much as a sick kitty's birthday can be! We're gearing up for the twins' birthday now, which is on the first of the month. Since we just released a nip toy, making another one wouldn't work (Curzon hasn't managed to destroy this one quite as quickly). And since Curzon hates being groomed (though thanks to his recent fur issues, he's grown much more tolerant of petting down below his collar - something that once got your blood drawn), I'm thinking some one-on-one time with me is better (not that he doesn't get a lot of that). But Jadzia needs her time too, but she will LOVE her powderbath! I'll have to do their claw trimmings soon though (as Curzon's especially are getting very long), so I'll probably do that tomorrow. I will hopefully have some more pics from the birthday party (well, if you can call it a party) after the fact.
Oh and Poppy darling - do make sure your human gives you a hug for me, you've been quite, well, adorable!
Kahless, Jip - check your email.
Alrighty folks, off I go to bed. Nini!

Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Nimbus!
Our beloved little patient (ok, not so little) turns 7 tonight, so today is party day!
It's hard to believe it's been that long since he came flying out (almost literally) but it has. He was no bigger than a mouse, and actually looked just like one except for that face! Yes, he's always had the same serious face, just smaller and (much) smaller ears. I will never forget that night and that whole 48 hours actually. We didn't even know for sure if Jadzia was pregnant until the day she had him, and even then we weren't for SURE it was a spine! It's not like she got big, she was never showing, but with only one kitten in there, and a small one at that, it's not hard to hide! 7 years ago last night, there was a bad storm in Iowa, where we were at, and the twins fell asleep under the table, together, Curzon wrapping his paw around his sister, holding her through the night. Just before midnight the next night, she went into labor, and the shortest one at that. She came up to me, I jumped over her, grabbed two towels, laid them down, and no sooner than she laid down, he was out - with only two contractions! So, no, I will NEVER forget what happened this day 7 years ago - or how far all 4 of us have come. We finally have a stable, secure family with Mr. Cat - something I didn't even think would happen (after all I'd been through, I was wary of all men, but he proved me wrong, HAPPILY) and three (mostly) healthy cats.
So what did Nimbus get for his birthday? One of Mr. Cat's socks, cut off at the ankle, filled with Nip, and tied off. Of course, he shared, but he got first bite on it, and rub, and kick... LOL. Hopefully this excitement and (somewhat) exercise will help his diabetes too. Time will tell, he still has over two hours until his next poke. But I sure do think he has had quite a birthday, though I'm not sure he liked his powder bath. I forgot just how deep the powder goes and I had to pat most of it out of him, even after 3 brushings! But you should see him now - looking like he just came from the groomers, without all the drama and water!
So anyways, I am off for now, to try something I've never made before (wish me luck). Hope everyone is enjoying their lazy Sunday, as my babies are here!

Quick Run-Down
Hello there my friends. A few quick things, as I don't really feel like writing right now.
1. Curzon is doing better. I'm still finding mats, but not nearly as many - so I think I'm finally catching up. I did accidentally nip him though - first time ever. But I know when I did it - and he had squirmed big time right at that moment. But it's nothing but a surface scratch - his sister's done worse to him trust me lol. But as a precaution, I did rub some antibiotic cream on it, just to help him out.
2. Nimbus is doing better. His numbers *so far* have started to come back down from his food-induced semi-jump. He's feeling better too, you can tell. Over the last few weeks we've seen him get more playful and less tolerant of what the other two do to him. Atta boy!
3. I've decided to try to sell my wood bead bracelets. I don't know how yet, but I've got to figure it out. Any ideas would be helpful.
4. I finally got a full, good night's sleep last night! Woohoo! Man I know it sounds weird, but with the aches and bugs I've had to fight this last month or so, that's been rare. I even went right back to sleep after giving Nimbus his shot. That is even more rare, even when I'm feeling good! I just wish I could bottle this up and save it for when I need it. But don't we all?
5. I'm in the process of getting ready to reformat my PDA - AGAIN. Ugh. So I'll end up spending the better part of a weekend offline. I'll let you know when I do it, though it'll probably be this upcoming weekend. I doubt I'll have the energy or time to do it during the week. I might do it tomorrow though if I am ready, but that's doubtful. Too much to sort out still and tomorrow is laundry day.
6. Talking about tomorrow, tomorrow's supposed to be a scorcher. So much for me going to the laundromat. And I'll be staying up probably tomorrow morning because I plan to be at the bank early so I can get started on my laundry early so I'm not hauling up laundry at 3pm when it's feeling like 110 outside. No thanks.
7. Man if you're up my way, was that a storm or what earlier? That was the quickest monster downpour I've seen. I bet further east the wind damage is worse, but I shut my windows because the wind was so strong it was a horizontal rain - nearly into my apartment! Naw, don't need wet carpet. But that storm was in and out in 10 minutes I think. That was one booking-it storm!
Now folks, I am off to find my way to bed so I can hopefully have another good night's sleep. I wish everyone else rest and relaxation as well.
A special shout-out to a friend I haven't stopped by to say hi to in a while: Andrew, I am still reading, but I apologize for not stopping by your blog lately. Ask anyone around here, I don't stop much of anywhere anymore. Blogs get emailed, I do a quick read in Reader, and off I go again to the mad rush. And Cheryl, you too my dear. I must stop by and see all of you - every last one of you, however many of you there are now - soon. Maybe that'll be tomorrow since I'm going to pretty much be stuck indoors. We'll see.
Goodnight folks.

Updates
Hello peeps.
First of all, I am feeling better. It's taking time, but I'm getting there. I've heard of a LOT of people having the same "bug" I am getting over - whatever the hell it was. It's been one hell of a week, and I got to tell you, when I get sick, my luck goes right along with my energy and appetite down the drain!
Nimbus is doing well. He spiked this afternoon, but I think that was the stress of trying to get him from under the bed. He was hiding not because of him not wanting his shot, but of all the stuff he heard from his big uncle Curzon.
You see, SOMETHING is up with that cat's fur. He suddenly got oily. I noticed a mat or two a couple days ago (and he does NOT mat) so today I went to get it out, and the poor guy ended up losing a lot of fur on his hind end. Then I went to give him a bath, but instead of breaking the oils down, it seems to have only spread it, so I had to cut even more mats out. The poor guy is without fur on the hind quarter of his body and a couple small, minutely noticeable (if at all) patches on his shoulders. I HOPE this is it, though if I discover more, he's getting another bath - this time with something de-oiling like Dawn or Head and Shoulders (which should only be used in emergencies... trust me I have done this before, though not in a very long time). If that doesn't work, he's gonna have to go bald on his body. I'm not going to have a matted-up cat. But I am left to wonder WHY he suddenly got oily, over the last week or so. Maybe he got my bug and it sent his body whacky? I don't know. I will talk to the vet about it when she calls. I just can't afford another vet expense!
Other than that, there's not much going on around here. It's official, though, the cats are on a diet. The food FINALLY came today. I'm so glad, and hope that this helps the cats out. I think all three of them could stand to lose some weight, but trust me, they're not fat cats. A little chubby maybe - but trust me, if you wrestled with Curzon in the bathtub like I did today, you wouldn't call him fat. He wore me out from head to toe, and he was being a good boy about it! Imagine what it's like when he's a bad boy during bath time! Then again he hasn't had a bath in AGES, probably a year or more.
Work still has me exhausted, but what's new. I don't know how NOT to work my rear end off. I have to, it's my job. I just wish everyone else saw it that way, that way no one or two of us would have to run so friggin' hard. But most people anymore are so lazy, it really drives me up the wall. I can't understand why anyone, especially in this economy, would be so sub-par at their job. No one, no matter how much value you think you have in a company, is safe from getting "let go" right now. Someday, hopefully soon, the economy will recover, but right now we have to be thankful for what we have more than ever, because tomorrow you could be laid off, homeless, and alone. It happens every day.
Anyways, I am off for now. Take care my friends!

A Quick Message
Sick as a dog - since Thursday night. Recovering but still not well. Will write more when I'm back to normal and feeling like writing. Sorry for my silence lately, but right now it's hard to blog inbetween coughing fits.
