Picture-less Update

Hey folks. No pictures right now, not that I don't have any new ones to share, but I'm too lazy right now to hassle with it.
Today ended up being another adventure, but I didn't necessarily plan on it. I had planned to cook my other lamb chop early this afternoon but that's going to have to wait a bit longer. I'm too tired. STILL.
You see, every dive in this three-horse town ran out of newspapers. Now they had the crappy local one, but not the better big-city paper (not so much better news content, just MUCH better comics). So after some phone calls, I ran into a store that had one left - 2 miles away. Now I wasn't about to wait for a bus - the guy was nice enough to hide it behind the counter - so, my idiot self decided to walk! Oh getting there was no problem. I had my poncho on cause it was misting and I'm not sure if the coat I had on is waterproof and I didn't feel like haggling with the wind and cold hands. Of course I'm ready for a downpour and it doesn't lol. On the way back, though, OMG... I was all but crawling home, especially that last mile. But that's ok. I know just stopping a couple times along the way for a minute helps me out a lot... And I stopped to get lunch on the way (yes, it wasn't even quite lunchtime and everyone had ran out of papers already), so that helped. But oof! I'm tired!
Ok I need to amend this post... so much for that other lamb chop. The roommate brought me home meatloaf! WOW he is a sweetie indeed. See why I like southern gentlemen? Ain't a yankee up here that'd do that (don't take offense to that folks, please) for a chick like me! I guess I ain't got it quite so bad after all? Unfortunately I'm still full from lunch! That's my friggin' luck! Aye! Give me a little while and I'll have me an appetite back now!
Oh and an update... So I got all the cat pictures I've taken lately sorted out. I even got them backed up on the PC. Two projects out of the way. I have the dishes soaking (have since last night), so I guess I'm halfway there... All I gotta do is finish this cleaning and I think I'll have it done! Nimbus' test chart is updated, I feel like I've accomplished a lot while I've been on my rear end! Tomorrow changes things though. I really need to get to doing my laundry. BAH HUMBUG. I just don't feel like getting up off my rear end yet! This has been the most thoroughly relaxing vacation I do believe I have ever taken! And think, I did it without anyone waiting on me hand and foot too! Now excuse me while I gloat over my successes by cuddling a cat that probably doesn't want to be scooped up and cuddled right this moment... ROFL.

A Picture-less Post LOL

Hey folks. I do hope I've not set off some of my other readers with all my cat pics... It's just what has been preoccupying my mind lately. And it's not like there's much of anything else going on around here. Things don't change too much, thankfully. I've found some of my favorite comic strips are available by RSS, so I've been getting to keep up a little even if I don't get the paper. I especially love Overboard, Pearls Before Swine, Mutts (which I get in email), and Get Fuzzy, among others. I know, you can see a trend here. But they're not the only ones I read. That's just a partial list. Pearls makes me laugh harder than the rest most of the time, especially lately. Overboard is a trip too, though. But Mutts is my perennial favorite, as it was the first one Mr. Cat introduced me to. Before that, I was purely a Peanuts and Garfield chick, both of which I still love to this day, but I have variety now LOL. So that's what I've been doing lately. That and trying to sync my Google Reader blog list up to my Firefox bookmarks. OMGG I really must keep up better than this. Thank God every time I start following someone new, it automatically updates my list on the blog, or I'd be REALLY screwed!
Anyways, I am off for now, as I may have gotten one big project of mine out of the way yesterday, but I got plenty more waiting... *sigh*

Happy Halloween!

Hey folks, I thought I'd share some more retro photos, in the theme of Halloween!
This one is for Rumble! This one took me the longest to find because I couldn't remember when I took it.
I can't believe I missed this pic for the last post. That is so classic Jaz. And yes, both twins have those marks in their mouths. They've had them probably since birth, definitely as long as I've had them. I'm not sure if Nimbus has them or not, I try not to keep his mouth open that long, it's asking to get bit!
When I do catch him yawning he tends to show teeth more than anything.
This is our scratching post, when it was in slightly better condition. Curzon has managed to shred one side of the bottom half pretty good, but for all the scratching and climbing, the pole's carpet is still in great shape. Mr. Cat built this many many years ago, and has had its share of cats tearing up and down it, as well as inside (there are two holes in the bottom half so that a cat can climb in and have a safe spot). Not that any of these guys do that anymore (Mr. Cat didn't build it for Coons, but for NORMAL sized cats).
You can't tell me cats don't smile... look at that face!
This picture was taken a couple years back, shortly after I got up here where I'm living now. Boo had gone missing and I couldn't find him for the world. Of course I'm worried, then I hear a weird noise coming from the kitchen. It sounded more like a mouse, but I had to go investigate it. This is what I found... How he got in and shut the door behind him without either of us seeing or hearing him - or alerting the other two cats - is still a mystery. He was having fun though! I didn't like having to rewash the stuff that was down there - oh well.
Just for comedy's sake!
This picture is many years old. Death rays!
This yawn I still can't believe to this day I caught on camera. And think, his fangs are longer now! He was at least 3 years younger then... most likely a lot more.

Those Promised Pics

Hey folks. I got some things to do so I thought I'd send you guys the pics while I was getting things done. Hope everybody - furry and furless - has a good day.

Looking Back

Hey folks! I thought before I posted the new pictures I'd post some of my favorites from many years ago. I will try to post the new pictures later today, but who's to say... lol.
Nimbus with his moose. This wasn't intended to be a cat toy, but he made it his. The twins had some fun with it before him, but once he was big enough to throw it around, he began "killing" it!Nimbus' retro contribution to Toes and Tummy Tuesday.
Young Boo
Jadzia's contributing too!
I stumbled upon this pic from probably before Boo was a year old... OMG I forgot he used to be so skinny and had such long legs! I guess I got used to either baby Boo or big Boo. I guess he had to grow into the legs, eh?
It's kinda hard to clean up the bathroom sink with you in it, Jaz!
OtterCurry!
All those teeth!
The Tocktober pic I told ya'll about...
Found one from Nimbus also.
The most recent of the pics, from probably 3 years back.
Sometimes you get lucky and catch a big yawn...
...Sometimes lightning strikes twice in the same photo shoot!
Sometimes even I get fooled. I was about to move this over to the Curzon folder, thinking I had mis-identified the cat (it happens even to me now and then). But rule number 1 when you have twins and you're sorting thru photos, look through all of them during that shoot. There'll be one or two in there that'll tell you who it is.
See, told ya!Jazzy just after she got fixed. The only time I've seen her skinny since just after I rescued her. She looked so much worse than she really was. Thank goodness she got some of her belly back quick. She just didn't stop there!
This is just how tiny Nimbus was when he was a baby. Don't worry he was safe. One he was under a good table, and two, mama wasn't far. But think, he was this small at a month old. You can imagine how tiny he was at birth!
Einstein furThat, my dear Curzon, is a yawn!

A Note from Nimbus

Hey there furfriends! I just wanted to give efurrybuddy a quick laugh, at our bean's expense, of course.
Hey, mom. That superball isn't fair. It changes direction quicker than even you! And it's so small it's too easy for Curzon to hog it!
And mom, about that quiz you took. Did you really think if you were a cat, you'd be anything OTHER than a Coon? Puh-lease. It takes a Coon to love a Coon!
And one last thing... Do you mind with that flashy thing? I'm trying to sleep!

Nimbus

Hi Again

Today has been a most relaxing day, and I have needed it. I've managed to be lazier today than I even am on my normal days off! For most of the day as well, at least one cat has been hanging out with me, though right now they're all somewhere off in the other room hanging out by themselves. They're probably crashed out in the kitchen as I just gave them a rare treat: some milk (my lactaid milk of course - lower in sugar = better for Boo). So I'm kicked back relaxing enjoying the silence (with the exception of my keyboard and the gentle hum of the CPU). I've not had much of an appetite today though I have gotten myself to eat a little bit. Perhaps later I will eat some more but right now that's not for right now.
Nimbus is doing great - almost scary great. He did a 30 point drop during the day today and I'm not quite sure why. I haven't played with him except for first thing this morning. He's been sleeping all day as always. I don't get it. Maybe whatever had him spiked up over the last week or so is out of his system. But as my vet says, cats are hard to keep regulated, and any little thing can change things up completely. Nimbus OWNS the difficult title, as well as the stubborn title!
Jadzia's itching has come back over the last week, so after a brief respit from getting pilled daily, she's back on the cortizone pills. The vet was nice enough to send me some more in the mail, saving me a trip up there. I probably could've walked up there from the bus stop, but it's a very busy street and I don't think it's a short trip either. It's not like I couldn't do it, I can walk a good 3-4 miles if I must, but WHY WOULD I? So I will just send her a check here shortly and we'll be good. I love my vet!
I am glad to inform everyone that Curzon is, well, being Curzon! There's nothing to really update here, as he's always his normal self, issue-free (so far, knock on wood). He seems to be losing weight even though he seems to be eating slightly more (but the food he is eating isn't as fatty so he burns off everything he ate overnight chasing his sister during the morning), but it's all good.
I don't have any pictures yet, as I only took a couple this morning and I haven't bothered to take the stick out of the camera and edit the pictures down. I'll get to that - eventually. They're not anything special, or I'd be the first to show them off. It's been cloudy and gloomy outside, though it's been dry, so there's not been any sunpuddle to catch them enjoying. And without the natural lighting, the pictures are harder to get because of that meanie flash. I did get a really good spooky-eye shot though that will probably be up on the blog tomorrow or sometime soon (like I said, when I get around to it lol).
Right now I am off to check into which pictures I can turn into a pocketpc theme (techie term for the pda version of a desktop image) and see if I can remember which proggie on this som****** of a pc I used to edit the pictures down! I have too many pic editors and I can't remember which one I used for said purpose. Don't ask me why I have so many, I don't know. It's like all the purses I have. I know why I have some, but some of them I have no idea why they're on my PC except I know there was a reason at one time! Thankfully, also like the purses, I stopped collecting before it became an issue. I still don't understand why I have 6 purses! But, hey, I'll figure it out someday, right? I just wish I had like 6 pairs of sneakers instead. That way when one pair started to get a little uncomfortable, I could switch sneakers and let them get some air and let those insoles get a break. Then again, where would I put all those shoes? And would Mr. Cat let me survive with so many? LOL hehehe... I do think I should get another pair though.. but good shoes are so expensive, but when you're on your feet constantly, they're a necessity.
Anyways, I am off for a bit to enjoy the quiet a little longer. Maybe I'll do some PC maintenance... Yeah, that's what I'll do. No effort there!

Hi!!!!

Hello friends! As my dear Nimbus alluded to in yesterday's post, I am finally taking a vacation, and even better, taking it at home with the cats! Unfortunately this doesn't mean that I get to sleep in, as there's still a sick cat to take care of and an itchy cat to monitor. But I'm happy to be off for a few days to be able to just focus on me and the cats. They really don't like me leaving every morning, and even just on my normal two days off, they tend to cling to me a bit. So I doubt much will get done on vacation - but some of that is by design. I'll spend one day, maybe two, cleaning etc. But for the majority of the vacation, I'm doing absolutely nothing that requires any amount of work, except perhaps making something to eat.
So of course what do I do first when I'm on vacation? Go back to bed, of course! Granted, I'm sitting up (I'm much to wide awake to fall back asleep, heck I woke up at 4am without my alarm clock), but I'm back under the covers and enjoying the peace and quiet. Curzon is in here on the scratching post's lower level, keeping a watch on everything that's (not) happening. Jadzia briefly came up to visit me but when Nimbus jumped up in bed, she left. She'll be back though, she always is. I don't think I'll venture far from here today, though I don't know. It depends I guess on if the sun comes out for one. I probably should soak up some sunshine while it's not TOO cold outside, but we'll see what I decided to do.
As for getting around to see everyone, I probably will start that this afternoon, once most of you have made your morning posts. That way no one gets lost in the shuffle of my disorganization! Until then, be well ya'll!

Fun Facts via Nimbus

Hey friends! Guess what? We have mom home for a few days, so we're going to perhaps catch up with all of you SOMETIME this week! We told her it was time she quit leaving us every single morning so early so she finally caved and said she'd stay with us for a few days. We hope it's a lot longer but we'll take whatever we can get.

We thought you'd like to know a few odd things you probably don't know about us, though some of you humans that actually know mom probably have heard her mention it.

Curzon loves to eat plastic, yarn, you name it. If he can get his teeth around it, he'll at least try to eat it. Mom tries her hardest to stop him, but now and then he sneaks by her. It's the probable reason one of his fangs got chipped a few years back – probably from him trying to eat the humans' telephone! He's also the reason we're not allowed twist-tie strings anymore, because he ate the paper right off of them. He's the mushy one of us, as when mom picks him up, he will usually go limp and put up with anything she puts him through. He gets cuddled more than most, but not because he is so demanding, but because mom's always grabbing him!

Jadzia just licks plastic bags, but half of the time you can't tell for sure what she's doing. She also loves batting twist-ties around (which is why we used to have little strings of them). But because of big brother, she now has to settle for paperwads, which seems to suit both of them fine. She's a lap cat, even though Coons aren't supposed to be, but you can't just put her on your lap and expect her to stay. She IS the queen after all, and so everything is on her terms. She absolutely loves attention, and if you start petting her, you best be prepared to devote a large amount of time to her.

I, Prince Nimbus, however, am much more sophisticated. I prefer things that move, like shoelaces. But I love to chomp my teeth into wood too. At least I don't try to eat the dining room table! I make sure mom remembers to fill up the food bowl at night, and I make sure that the litterbox isn't too stinky and sometimes bury what the other two leave behind. I guess it's just part of the prince's job to clean up after the king and queen. Meh.

A quick post...

Hey folks.
I have found heaven... And it's very creamy. Ok, as close as one can get to on this old planet. For years, I've been fussing as I've missed my Jif chocolate peanut butter. But I found something that is almost as good finally! Unfortunately it's organic it seems, so it's more expensive. But yum... And it's dark chocolate! There's just something about it, perhaps the chocolate that prevents the peanut butter from caking on the roof of the mouth... Or the uber-smooth creaminess and hint of chocolate taste without the aches to the sweet tooth that chocolate can cause. YUMMMMM...
So anyways, I just got home from work (and the grocery store obviously) and I have to say, what a friggin' day. I am so happy to be home. I'm tired of people waiting for the last minute to do what they should've done a long time before. I just want to jump for joy almost that I'm home! I'm so excited, I'm going to turn off the pda and just relax for a while. No pictures today, back to the cloudy, rainy weather!

Dang it I forgot a title AGAIN!

I know some of the added-on pics are a little cheesily done, but I'm sorry - I'm in a bit of a hurry. You see, I would like to eat before I try to find my football game on tv... and that's not likely to be easy! I hope all of you have a wonderful day and have enjoyed the pics. I even put in Nimbus' up close pic for ManCat Monday a day early as I will be working tomorrow and so not as likely to getting around to it. I'm suddenly feeling lazyyyy...

HAPPY TOCKTOBER!

See we didn't forget! We were going to have Mom find a classic pic from years ago, but then we'd look like we were copying Misha! (Yes, once upon a time Jadzia wasn't a fluffball!)

Curry (Play)Fight

First of all, before we start the show, a few disclaimers.
1. I know there are a couple times when it may sound/look like he got thwapped against the couch, he didn't. Sometimes a tail whack to the floor sounds worse than that. But anyone that's had a Coonie knows their tail is one of the strongest of domestic cat tails.
2. I know he sounds pissed off, and he kinda is. But as you see, when he really wants to go, I let him go. If he didn't want to play, he wouldn't.
3. Don't EVER try this with your cat. I've had 8 years to figure this cat out. Why do you think I have the big ol' winter glove? He can bite and claw through that, but rarely does. It's a safety tool. Notice also you never see my head in the shot - I'm not stupid enough. Sweet and bonded as we are, he's fighting with instinct at this point. The bigger the target, the more likely he's going to go for it.
4. Always give an animal an out - and a way to know it's over. That's why the glove is left in the middle of the floor - so he knows it's over. I do this with Boo also, though he gets a kiss on the head as well. Different cats, different styles. This is why I don't want to see anyone replicating - or trying to replicate - my style. If I tried to kiss Curzon after a boxing match, I'd be mauled. But if I just put the glove on the floor, Nimbus wouldn't know it was over. Please, do NOT try this at home!
5. ENJOY THE PLAYFIGHT! And remember, it may be just play, but this is how I trained my cats from the beginning, and why I am so confident in them as hunters. Jadzia has had her issues, yes, but even she survived her bouts of freedom because I taught her how to fight. This is stuff a mamacat would teach her kittens, but since I rescued these two so young, I had to teach them. It was a learning process for all of us. And don't think they fight alike, because they don't. Jadzia won't playbox with me, only with one of the other two cats (poor Nimbus especially).

Thoughts

Hey folks. Sorry, no pictures today. It's been too rainy and cloudy to even make me want to get the camera out much less take any pictures. We're all too busy laying around waiting for the rain to go away. It's this nasty weather that gets into the joints and just takes me places too - places I don't want to go. I remember so many times when my Mom was still alive and it'd be just like it is now and that poor woman would just be writhing in pain. For some reason, I never remember her having any painkillers on hand. I know as I got older, I did. But I never remember seeing Mom take any herself... I just remember seeing her in pain. Maybe it's just the way my brain remembers the past, tossing some pieces of the puzzle out just to drive me nuts, I don't know. But there were days she could barely walk. But on the flip side, there were days I couldn't have gotten away from her no matter how fast I ran either! It's cloudy rainy days that have me feeling way older than I really am that force me to push out all the memories that break my heart still all these years later. There are tons of fond memories - and considering how rough some of us have had it lately, I think I feel the need to share!
There was once when Mom was volunteering at the library that I decided I'd cook and deliver Mom's lunch - even though she told me not to before she left! So I cooked her a steak, diced it up, put it in a baggie, and walked it to her (just a few blocks away). Mom gave me her famous grr look but thanked me - and the rest of the library staff was apparently nearly gushing at the seams over it! I still to this day don't understand what the big deal was - considering how many times my Mom had to bring things to school that I'd forgotten!
There's the flyswatter-chase that we had with her brother - it started with chasing Mom but we quickly teamed up and chased her little brother instead! All three of us laughed so hard we could barely eat dinner that night! And don't worry, they were clean flyswatters - it all started with me pulling a prank on my uncle if I remember right.
Then there's the water balloon fight I got into with him... And Mom's the one that taught me to aim at the ground at his feet - and dang it worked brilliantly! He walked right into it - pop - and instantly it looked like he'd peed his pants! We laughed so hard I think we both nearly passed out - then he looked and started laughing too!
There's the time I was struggling all weekend with this one problem on one of my algebra assignments. I was literally pacing the floor for a while trying to think through it. Mom growls at me to stop the pacing because I was bound to wear out the floor! Then she made me sit down and play some cards with her. I didn't understand why - she was always insistant I get all my homework done first. Then when I did get back to the homework, I had it all figured out quick, and then it all made sense. She was teaching me that sometimes you have to walk away from a problem for a little bit to clear your head so you can more clearly focus on it later.
Oh and there's the time when my uncle called but my Mom was so sick her voice sounded more like a guy's. My uncle hung up on her thinking he'd dialed the wrong number and called back - to get my Mom growling at him to never hang up on her again! I'm not sure who was laughing harder - me or her! After he got over feeling two inches tall I think he was laughing too!
Anyways folks, now that I'm laughing my rear off, I'm going to head out. After all this rain, I gotta check on the creek to make sure we ain't about to float away!

Whoops I forgot a title again

Howdy folks! Wow how did I get this lucky?
The first video - wow - I've never seen this happen, much less recorded it. Usually every time Nimbus TRIES this, he gets smacked. I wasn't expecting or planning it, but once it happened, I had to see how long I could make it last.
The second video, well I finally got Nimbus playing - if you can call it that. He wasn't so enthusiastic, especially about the nip sock. I apologize for the brightness, but that sunpuddle is a big one today!

A few loose ends...

Ok enough of letting those furballs have their moments... And of swamping you with posts! I promise this is the last one, though I'm going to stuff a few more pics in here.
I got the twins in one shot, standing up! OMG! Trust me this is hard, as usually one's swinging at the other if they get that close and aren't asleep!I made them lay down, but they were kind enough to stay for me.
What a handsome ManCat!
But all of this excitement wore him out...
A LOT! What a sleepy face.
Queenie traded him places.
Once again, posed, but wow, I can't believe this lasted even long enough to get the picture! I was so proud of them I gave them a second to let one leave before the cat fight started.
So Jadzia left, and Nimbus came over.
He had to investigate a nose he heard (which was me getting his attention).
Sometimes I think I should've named him Curious George, but he's no monkey (even if he acts sorta like one sometimes)!
Would you mess with this cat?
Or this one? Who needs guard dogs when you got guard cats just as brave and with much more vicious teeth and claws!
Look at the size of that paw! Poor mouse that finds itself at the end of that one!
Trust me, Curzon's paw may LOOK smaller, but it's not. He just doesn't show his size as much. I KNOW what those paws have done to rodents, and it's not pretty. He's got the tennis racket version of a cat paw, his sister has the baseball bat version. His grabs and holds, hers throws! However, I'm not about to try to get her to sit still long enough for a paw pic.
So friends, that's all the pics I have for you today, hot off the presses (well, off the camera stick at least). I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did!
