Sad But True

Isn't it sad we give more money to our presidential candidates than we do to the poor?
It is estimated in just the two days since the massive Super Tuesday primaries, the two Democratic candidates alone raised $14mil in cash just on their websites, no dinners etc. Considering by law an individual's donation is limited to (approximately) $2300, that's a lot of people donating. If each one of those donors would even donate half of that to their local foodbank or other charitable organization, we wouldn't have near the tragedy of children going hungry or without medical care. Women would have more access to help when trying to get out of abusive relationships. High school graduates in low-income families would be able to afford college better. If we spent the money that the select few politicians spend getting elected on more worthwhile things, how much better would we, as a nation and a society as a whole, be even within a few short years as kids no longer fight off hunger pangs during school? Trust me, school breakfast doesn't silence those pangs, they only numb them for a little while. If the only meals kids are eating are at school, they're still going to be starving during class. Let's stop wasting money and start spending wiser.
