Thinking Problem...

(Before I paste this blog, if anyone knows the song I'm referring to in the blog, I'll be impressed. haha... Anyone remember the artist who released it? I do!)

So... Another tv anchor says something really stupid and gets suspended... This time it was MSNBC's David Schuster.
The comment was made in a conversation about Hillary Clinton's daughter Chelsea on the campaign trail. He said something to the effect that it seems like Hillary was "pimping out" her daughter.
Ok here's my point on it. It was rude, inconsiderate, and utterly disgusting to even suggest such a thing, even if it was sarcastic. Let him serve his suspension, then come back on the air and apologize. Much worse things have been said on air by personalities still broadcasting. Let's not let this one thing get in the way.
Ok, on to other issues... Waterboarding.
It was made official this week. The government waterboarded three terrorism detainees, including the mastermind of the September 11 terrorist attacks, within the months after the attacks.
Let's assume it hasn't been done to anyone else since, just for the sake of argument. While I believe this practice is torture, I am torn as to whether or not it was worth it in this case. We had just been attacked horrendously, and the terrorists surely didn't care who they killed, men, women, children - it didn't matter. But we Americans are supposed to be bigger and better than that.
But where's the line between morality and security? Could we have gotten the same information without this practice? I just don't know. My cold, angry, hateful side says do what you gotta do, get the information, then hang them slowly, so they feel the pain that they thrust upon us Americans, as well as all the others they have attacked. But then the warm side that you all are familiar with cries out for morality, justice, and fairness, and asks if it's worth it. I just don't have the answers. Does the end justify the means? No one died, no one REALLY got hurt, but I'm sure they didn't think so when it happened.
So is waterboarding torture? And should it be used when nothing else works? Or should we be willing to risk another attack in our goal to remain on the moral high ground? Or are you also sitting on the fence not sure? What's your opinion?

Unless "Pimping out" was the song you were referring to I have no idea what song you are referring to.

If it is "Pimping out" Then not only have I not heard it but I am probably showing my age here too, by saying I probably wouldn't want to either. Cheers!!
