The view outside my window when I got home from work.
Hello folks.
I just got home from work not long ago and once again I'm waiting on the mailman. But with this nasty weather, I know I'm going to have a much longer wait this time. Just within the last 15 minutes it's suddenly gotten cold enough for the snow to start accumulating on the bushes and cars. This is not fun. Luckily I got home before it got like that. The traffic is a nightmare; instead of staying home everyone's out driving in this. I'm so tired of it already and it just started! I would've been just as happy to not see any snow at all this year, but if this means we don't have an ice storm, I guess I'll take it. I hate ice even worse, you can't even WALK in that crap, or on it either! If you've ever tried to walk when it's sleeting you know exactly what I mean! So anyways, I'm sitting here staring out the window at this snow and just wanting to shiver at the sight. Jadzia is loving it though, perhaps more because we're keeping a little cup of food up there for her (she's suddenly taken to the kitchen table which she knows she's not allowed on). Hopefully she gets the point and she stays there. I'm also thinking maybe she's been wanting to be out with the rest of us but it's been too cold down lower where she's allowed (it's a high table). I don't know, but I WILL BREAK her of this habit. I litterbox trained these twins and that was hell on earth. I think I can handle this lmao.
So what else is new... Nothing much. I wish I could say it has... Heck it's been an hour since I started writing this (I had to get some other things done) and STILL no mailman. I'm so impatient, ain't I? According to the post office it's still somewhere en route to destination (does that mean it made it to town and is at the local post office or what - who knows). And on top of that, the website is notoriously slow. I wish they had a sort of mailman tracker, not to show exactly where they were but just which neighborhood. That way if you're expecting something, you know whether you have a while or they're close. I know, too expensive! But what exactly ARE we paying for? The carriers deserve the pay, heck they have to be out delivering mail no matter what. They can't just say, "if you want it, come get it yourself!" But if UPS can send a box for $10 why can't USPS come close at least? But my problem with UPS (and to an extent FedEx too) is that unless the sender requires a signature (which costs more), they're not liable to even knock to tell you they're there with a delivery. So your package sits unsecured for a great deal of time possibly, open to getting stolen or damaged. Bah humbug.
Back to the cats...
Curzon has been terribly fascinated with these wadded-up receipts. I need to find a way to attach one to a string (that he can't readily chew through) and go "catfishing" with him! I'd use fishing line, but he'll chew through that before I even know he's doing it. Yarn is just as bad if not worse. So there goes any kind of thread... See my problem? Maybe paper string... At least if he chews through that, it'll be ok. I think he's got such a good digestive system, paper doesn't stand a chance in his gut. Heck this paperwad he's playing with right now is so worn that it's lost it's crunchy noise. He doesn't care though obviously as he throws it around and tears across the place with it. I swear sometimes he acts more like a retriever than a cat, but that's part of the Coon breed characteristic profile. Supposedly they were bred to go into the water after birds their humans shot down and bring them out like dogs, but I've yet to see one of these buggers do more than stare at water. Nimbus used to drink bath water, but he's not allowed to anymore and he doesn't push the issue nowadays.
Nimbus' diabetes is doing well by the way. I did have to boost him up a half-unit this week but that's normal as the build-up of insulin in him wears down. So long as he doesn't get too high or come back down too fast we'll be just fine. I'd love to see him get back down to that little quarter-unit whenever he needs it like he was at earlier this year, but that's a pipe dream it seems nowadays. But I'll happily take control anytime. He's such a good cat, to see him happy and (seemingly) healthy (considering his size) is what matters the most. I couldn't really ask for more, until we find a cure. Well, I wouldn't mind him letting me cuddle more or something along that line, but a mancat can't be seen being soft, right? Besides that's Curzon's job LOL - and Jadzia's, but she's a girl, she's supposed to be affectionate! Last night she was laying up against me, holding my left arm, just petting me, being careful not to scratch me, even with the dewclaw. OMG I melted! It wasn't just a few little grabs either, it lasted a good few moments until I started coughing. Unfortunately I think I'm on the verge of catching a chest cold so I'm trying to keep from getting it full force. If I can manage to get through this week and not start coughing my lungs up, we'll be fine. I think I can... I think I can... And if I think I can, I WILL!
So anyways, I am off to see if I missed the mailman while I was away (told you I was impatient lol)...
Ok, another hour or so has passed. I just got off the phone with the post office... THEY don't know where the **** along transit it is! What the heck? Is it in a truck stuck along the side of the street somewhere in the mountains? Is it delayed at an airport because of the weather? Or is it already there and they just don't know it? Knowing these idiots they probably flew it into DC or Baltimore and got stuck along the way trying to get it up here because of the weather. God only knows where it is, because I surely don't and it's obvious the people that SHOULD - don't have a CLUE! Mailman still hasn't even come yet, even though it's going on 5pm. I think I'm going to quit watching for 'em and just go post this and go check before I go to bed.
I snapped this picture of Jadzia earlier, and OMG I swear she has an owl neck. Notice where her rear is and which way her head is pointing. OMG I hurt so bad just seeing that! But she's the one cat in the world that can get between her shoulderblades with the tongue and get her flea medicine off. I swear I need to put it at the base of her skull... Not like that'd change anything probably lol.
Nimbus on his back on my lap (was the only good shot I got even though I was obviously trying to keep him still).
So anyways this wraps up this post for now. I'm off to try to warm up and quit thinking about snow.
And PS, no choco-hangover YET. But I'm craving it still like a b****! Gotta be this cold weather!
