You'll have to excuse me if I ramble on a bit, I stayed up last night because there was a storm coming in (so instead of getting to sleep as it hit I figured I might as well just stay up) and so I'm a couple hours short on sleep.
The cat box has been thoroughly Dawn'ed out, rinsed, and replenished. THAT better fix the twins' issues. There's nearly 30lb of fresh cat litter and 3/4 of a box of cat box deodorizer in that thing! If that doesn't fix it we're going back to when they were kittens, and they won't like that one bit!
The fountain is going back. I can't be having the cats not drinking water. I left it out (as their only water source) all night last night and there was barely any change in the flow. These cats drink way more than that. So it's obvious it's not going to work, so back it'll go to Petsmart tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm not happy about it, but the priority has to be what will keep them drinking the water up.
The kitties must have hit the lottery today. Not only did they get a fresh box, but their food arrived today too! Now yes I'm lazy, but not so lazy that I couldn't go get it instead of paying an extra couple bucks to have it shipped directly here. But it's just so much easier than trying to get through traffic to the vet's office. Besides, they don't carry the huge bags up there, so I'd still have to call in the order anyway. 16lb a month for these -------- er cats!
Kim was saying on her blog how much money she's spent on her cat. Well, darling I got you beat - on Nimbus alone. Easily. In just 3 years.
1600 first emergency
400 cardiologist follow-up
200 failed medical care 2008
335 diabetes / URI diagnosis
100 check-up
100 infection final treatment 2009
300 insulin (3 vials since last spring) (about to add another 110 to it)
300 test strips
180 needles
800 food (approximating 60/bag going through a bag a month) (very lowball estimate)
100 other antibiotics from initial diagnosis and subsequent infections
Total: Just about $4500! OUCH! Thank goodness things were going decent during the first crisis, but anyone that tells you that diabetes is cheap to treat is lying to you. Even IF I was only feeding Nimbus (and not having to get so much food at once) that only takes out a small part of the bill. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. When you've seen a cat at the brink of death and pulled him back, you don't look back, you just keep pushing him on. He's such a strong cat too, such a fighter. And to think you'd never know by his personality. I've never seen a more laid back cat. Always serious, but very laid back. That's my Boo! Now on that note, I'm off to go poke his ear.
Oh and Petie, darling have your mom talk to my mom about how to save money on some of it. I know times are rough now and I'm quite the frugal shopper when need be. And don't worry about all that poking. She'll get it worked out. It takes practice. Trust me, there are times when TSB gets TOO much blood from me and others when she just can't get any out! We hope you're doing better my darling!
