Mancat Monday - the Results

First of all, please purr for Jinx because his hoomin just found a lump!
Ok, now on to Mancat Monday.
TSB learned a couple things today, well ok, a few!
1. I'm fat! I tipped the scales at over 18lb! So it looks like more food rationing! ICKIES!
2. A urinary tract infection (UTI) can be asymptomatic except for the high numbers (which #1 is not helping with either).
3. Baytril, TSB's preferred antibiotic (ab) for me is dangerous in extended use, causing blindness. So back to the Zeniquin, just for a longer time.
So the verdict: probable UTI (though we don't know because Nimbus didn't give up his pee until after he was back in his carrier - OMC he has never peed on himself - TSB) and a month-long course of ab.
The trip itself:
I refused to get into the carrier, but TSB always seems to win. I don't know how she does it, but every time I come up with a way to resist, she comes up with a counter to it! I can never win! WHY?!?
I threw big fits too for a while, but once she hauled me outside I figured it was too late and I might as well just shut up and deal with it. But why?!?
But this was taken just before I got hauled outside:
The first pic is Jadzia wondering what's up, the other 3 are Curzon, btw. Do I look as dissatisfied as I possibly could be? MOL I sure tried to get out of there, but that door is hard! MOL
So anyway, the VET isn't that far away, it's just two exits up on the highway, so it doesn't take long to get there. But today they were mad busy so we had to wait a little bit both before and after. But it's ok, because after they got done with me I just kept my head in the back of the carrier and hid from the doggies. There were two little ones TSB says were pugs (I didn't look before or after) and the other one was a schnauzer - all I know is that one looked weird. But then again, all dogs look weird. That's just me though.
So we came back, and TSB discovered what I did. Now considering I hadn't been in it long - and TSB is tired from wrasslin' with me, she just dried me off as best she could with some paper towels and let me finish it off. The way she sees it, it ain't anything I didn't already have. I took care of it very quickly too, so as not to make the situation any worse. TSB is still threatening me with a BATH, but since I didn't get it on much of me, she is leaning against it. But she says I'll have to take pills for a MONTH! ACK! A MONTH of her shoving stuff down my throat? But she also says it's not the 3x shovers, just one shover. So I guess I'll let her go with this one.
You can see here I only got a little on one side and then some on my tail and back paws. Between me and TSB it was gone almost instantly. But that's what the vet gets for squeezing so hard and calling me FAT! HA! Fat... give me a break. I'm just more muscular than she's used to!
TSB: well folks, it went about like I expected it, though learning of the side effects of the Baytril was scary. I'm glad though that she was more than willing to give the antibiotics a good run. I don't think a week is enough considering this last bout's been going on over a month now. She also upset me though telling me 250 isn't that high - please. Don't downplay what's going on here. Let's nip this before it becomes something more serious. If this doesn't work though he's going to have to go in for blood and urine tests, especially urine. So hope this works. I have no intention of putting down that kind of money if I don't have to. And please, someone get this cat a JOB! Geez, he's just a green paper leech! MOL but I love him. I also got the flea medicine for everyone, and don't you worry, Nimbus has not escaped it. I just don't see any reason to pester him any more than necessary when he's going to get poked and prodded in a few hours anyway. I figure he was out in the big world for over an hour, it's best to let him rest for a few hours before his big poking. So he'll get his poke, pill, shot and then flea medicine last (I give insulin shots below where I give flea medicine but I don't want to risk pushing the flea medicine in with his insulin). We do the flea medicine in a wee special way, so it's not as much quantitatively but just the same dosage, so I'm not risking the medicine dripping down (besides, Revolution absorbs so much more quickly than either Advantage or Frontline). As long as this works (for Jadzia's sake), that's what counts, and it does. I did ask the vet about Jadzia's pooping issues and she thinks that the Queen is probably fussing over the texture. So it looks like we're going to have to do some experimenting. One of the suggestions she threw out was pine, but I don't want to risk the cats getting splinters like I did now and then when I was raising hamsters. I know it's probably much different but there's still that risk. I'll explore that this week or next. One thing at a time.
Thank you everyone for your Nimbus purrs. They are greatly appreciated, and gave me warm fuzzies knowing how much everyone's pulling for my big ol' teddy bear (albeit a very squirmy one MOL). Thanks tons.
