OMC ya'll making me cry! MOL Between the sudden twitter porch gathering and all the comments here, it very heartwarming.
Now for the news.
He's home and resting. Jadzia has hissed at him a couple times, but that's her "welcome home you ******* how dare you worry me like that" greeting I think *sigh* - that's my Jaz! I had him secured in the bathroom for about 10 min wif food water and the litterbox (I knew I kept the other one for a reason MOL) so I could clean him up from peeing on me twice today and let him relax. He's out though now, but hovering close to the cat box. You'll find out in a minute that you won't blame him one bit.
There was a lot - and I mean a LOT - of fluid around (and probably in) his lungs. The vet did the best she could to get it out but wasn't as successful as she'd like to be, but there is significant improvement already. That being said, he's on a diuretic now to help flush the rest of the fluid out. Unfortunately that means the poor boy has to be dehydrated a little bit. I hate that, but it has to be done. We got to get that fluid gone!
There were a lot of crystals in his pee, and being diabetic, we can't just change his food. So now he goes on urine acidifiers, as soon as the vet orders it, and knowing her she did that as soon as she locked the door to the clinic.
He's going back on his heart medicine as a precaution and frankly I really want to keep him on it for life. I don't want to risk this happening again, and if this helps prevent it, good.
So the poor boy is going to be doped up for a bit, and drugged up for a long time. But he made it! And thanks to one of my best friends who is now my guardian angel and BFF, he's going to be fine. Had he not given up a good portion of his day off of work and at-home-wif-babies time for me and Nimbus, the poor cat would've suffocated to death. I have never seen such a wonderful batch of lovings from a vet. Instead of just putting the mask on him and walking away, they let him lay on a table and a tech just held the hose to his nose and gave him gentle pets. Yes, EVERYONE falls in love with Nimbus. But they are a very cat-oriented clinic so they definitely know what they're doing - although they do love dogs too.
So once again Dr. B saves the day!
