My how things change with just a little love. As I was preparing for the new CF Card and taking care of it once it arrived, things started coming together.
1. I got my hands on a good proggie to fix my memory issues on my Flash Rom drive on my e800.
2. The email proggie that comes preinstalled is still dead, but the proggie I found (nPOPuk) works so much better anyways.
3. I suddenly once again found myself with a surplus of cards. I have now a 2 gig CF Card (that is slowly dying but will still serve a purpose somehow for a while), along with my 256 mb, 512 mb, and 1 gig SD Cards, all of which are in fine condition, except the poor 256 is kinda old, so who knows when it'll start to die.
4. I got more stuff on this card than I was expecting. I was thinking about a gig for my proggies, games, ebooks and the rest of the stuff on the 2 gig CF Card (I had it down to half full, if that), and another gig for music. Well, dummy me, forgot I was moving my pics too! (Post note: I didn't realize that 3 backup zip files were on the card!) So you can imagine me, sitting in front of the pc for 3 hours, an hour moving my CF folder from my desktop (I had already moved the stuff on my 2 gig onto the desktop to sort it out and make it easier to move to the new 4 gig), another hour (probably more) moving all my music off of my 1 gb SD card, and another hour or so moving all of my pictures off of the 512 mb card! But in all actuality, I knew it was going to take ages, so I was prepared. I went over to a neighbor's for a few minutes, I went to reading the news online for a while, I even kicked back and hung out with the rest of humanity for a few! Luckily I have slots for all sorts of cards on my desktop. Even the new pics that were still on the digital camera's stick (mmc I think it is - slightly narrower and a bit longer than SD) over to the new card (and to the desktop of course, always have two - or three - or four - copies of everything if you believe in Murphy's Law).
So I'm feeling quite accomplished right now, though I still have a couple things I'd like to have. But I have some new games, a couple handy programs, and a pda that likes me for once. The card does seem to make the pda take an extra second or two beyond what the old one did, but I'm used to it taking a few moments. I should time the desktop and the pda, find out which one takes longer to boot up from turn on (or soft reset in pda's case) to ready state. I think still, even with the new CF Card, it's still faster than the desktop, even though the desktop is technically newer lol. I really should now go through and clean up my desktop's hard drive, but with well over 140gb, what's the use? LOL I still haven't filled up the first 70gb drive yet. I think I still got 45% to go lol. So that is it for now, unless I think of something else to write about AGAIN.
