A lot of little stuff

Hello friends. I hope all of you are well.

First of all, thank you to all of you who've stopped by my blog lately and said hi. I surely do appreciate it and have enjoyed meeting every one of you. I especially enjoyed Allie and all of her sisfurs introducing themselves individually – what a great idea!

Well, I know I've been one of the more calmer voices about this "swine flu" stuff, but it got a little too close to call a couple times. A friend of mine got it and it took her nearly a month to get over it (and, as she said, never mind how expensive the medicine to fight it is), and then the local Catholic high school had to shut down one weekend because so many kids were sick and a handful were confirmed cases of swine flu. Now all rumor and innuendo aside (trust me what some people say happens amongst those kids doesn't belong on paper or screen anywhere), kids transport everything! I know I did, I can't count how many times I got sick. There is such a push to keep kids in school and rewarding those with perfect attendance that the occasional sick day is just not worth it to most of the kids. We seem to have forgotten to teach these kids that sometimes you do have to stay home a day or two so you can get better so you're not sick two weeks! But back to my point – I'm still not that worried. It's not that my health insurance is all that good – it's probably not and I really don't want to find out. I'm just more focused on putting more good stuff into my body to fight off whatever does get in it. It's the nature of the beast when you work with the public – you WILL get sick. It's how you fight it that counts. Now I'm not saying I can afford to get sick, financially or otherwise. I just know it's inevitable and so I'm just going to have to deal with it.

On to better things…

Nimbus is doing great – he's been stable the last few days. Unfortunately stable comes at 4.5 units of insulin twice a day, much higher than I'd like to see. But, he's stable, healthy, happy, and on a LOT less insulin than he was a couple short months ago.

Jadzia is continuing to do well. I did have to kill a flea though today, but luckily the little bugger landed on me and not Jadzia. I guess I'll be getting the Revolution next month! Bahhhh humbug! But until it freezes really hard, it's to be expected. But we went two years without a single flea! So much for that streak! But they came, I declared war, I WILL WIN. Take that, you tiny little parasitic pests!

Curzon is probably going to be getting his collar back on him soon (I took them off of all of them so that they could itch and not hurt themselves worse trying to get under them). Nimbus' collar came off later but I don't think his will be off but a few days since he heals fast and isn't as vicious with his itching. The main thing with Curzon right now is he needs a powder bath and a claw trimming. I think once that's been done he'll get his back. I'm going to wait a few more days to see how Jadzia's neck goes before putting hers back on.

As a final note… A little child is missing again down in Florida. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems a lot of them seem to go missing down there. This one was a 7 year old girl walking home from school yesterday. Please keep her family in your thoughts until she comes home – and all the other little kids that can't be with their parents. Anyone that's been forced apart from their parents for any length of time can understand the stress separation puts on both parent and child. Hopefully all our warm thoughts and prayers will help get this adorable little girl home safe and sound.
