Meanie Mom Strikes Again

...and he had no idea!
You will have to pardon my laughing so hard, but as a PROPER mancat, I know how to get mats out before TSB can find them (that's why she swears I don't mat up MOL). Nimbus on the other hand, no amount of grooming by him AND TSB seems to be able to prevent the inevitable: the WATER bath!
It started so innocently...
He was so sleepy he barely even knew what was going on.
So TSB grabbed her brushes and started working on it. One brush is one of those thin-wire green ones that have an angled brush that you can get at any pet store... The second is a small human hairbrush that TSB used to use when her hair was short, but with it being longer, she needs the bigger one. We have no idea what she's going to do once she gets her haircut done. She can't have our brush!
Then she brought all her tools into the bathroom along with 2 towels and the soap. TSB uses Dawn (which is fine if used very sparingly and rarely, so as not to break down too much of our natural fur oil) since it helps break down the oils that cause a lot of the matting and helps loosen up the fur. She got the tub about half-full of just cooler than lukewarm water and in the cat went - with her! See he's too big for her to wrestle with from outside the tub. He's strong enough (I taught the boy right, I must say) to wriggle right out of her arms as it is, outside the tub she doesn't stand a chance!
After she got done, she picked him up and started gently squeezing as much of the excess water as she could from his paws and feet and pushing the water down his back and belly so she could squeeze it off the tail. Then she wrapped him up in a very big towel (very big towel for a very big cat, you know) like a baby, all claws secure, only the head poking out, where she held him tight (so the towel could help dry him off) and calmed him down. Then she let him go and gave him another two brushings and got out all the mats the brushes found. Unfortunately, he had a lot on his right side, so he's missing a bunch of fur over there. Luckily for him this time, TSB was able to get them up out of the undercoat enough where he still has some fur to hide his cute little pink skin (MOL I didn't just say that, did I - well honestly it's a pinkish grey, depending on the area). But look at all the fur and mats TSB got off of the boy!!
The top left is from before he got his bath. Not much there, but a fair amount. Not even quite a handful though. That bottom pile is what was left in the tub after the bath. That top right mountain is all the fur that came off in the brushings and the mats. TSB ended up losing 5 pegs off of our brush snagging mats, but she hopes she got them all. She says once he dries off he's getting another brushing!
Either way, he's upset, and rightfully so. He's so upset that such a "good cat" as he is got so treated that he's refusing face pictures.
That's as close as TSB was getting to getting Nimbus to look at the camera. He wasn't having one bit of it. But TSB says he was excellent in the tub, only trying to escape 2-3 times and was quite unsuccessful (because she's getting better at controlling him when he tries to bolt for it). I feel for the boy, I know what he went through. I go through it every now and then too. If the pictures were decent, I'd show you, but they're not. But I'm proud of the boy. He held true to his personality even in the midst of quite an event! Maybe the kid ain't so bad after all...

... So long as I'm not next!!!! Tell me I'm not!
(You're not, chubby. You're just fine. You just need to let me brush you more.)

So that's what's gone on here today. TSB is still recovering from the "workout" of the day. MOL atta boy!

- Curzon

PS: What Curzon ISN'T telling you is that he didn't give one rat's butt about what was going on. He just lounged around like there was nothing going on. I TRIED to come to the boy's rescue but TSB had the entrance blocked! I'm sorry son! I was right there on the other side crying trying to distract her!
