MOUSES!

I think that sums it up well.

Howdy folks, Nimbus here.

It's been quite busy here but that's ok, in a way. See a lot of our FB friends - and mama's peeps - were in the path of some very ferocious storms yesterday in the midwest. Ma started making calls telling em to get ready to dive for the basement. I sent Angel Snowflake, mama's cat-before-me, to make sure mama stayed calm and got to sleep and a proper time.
Why didn't I go myself, you ask? Well, I had other business to attend to...
As many of you know our dear furiend Nerissa started his new journey. Some think that you're instantly here, but you're not. Even the walk across the bridge is part of the healing process. For some that were ready, it's a short walk across. But those of us who had bodies that were ready to leave long before we were, that bridge is a bit longer. I know for me it was a very long walk. Sometimes there are even guardians that help some along, comforting them as they make the journey across the bridge. Some get the most awesomest escort across from our furiend Pepi, yes. But some just don't want to be here and it takes a lot of comforting and love to get them to make the journey.
Back to Nissy...
Nissy's crossing went smoothly. He was very sad to be leaving his mama but we told him that she'd continue his work so it would be ok. Plus, there's still work to be done that we do here! He lit up then. And then the cry every one of us lets out as we're crossing - we're never gonna see them again! Let me tell you that was one very loud MOUSES! out of Nissy mol. I told him not to worry that there are reflecting ponds all over the place up here so we can always check on our peeps.
So once he got across we were all set to get him to his welcoming pampering and stuff... but he just wanted to see his peeps so bad... As many of you know I have a special room with it's own private reflecting pond in my mansion for new arrivals. Even those with families, some just are so sad they don't reunite right away for more than a few minutes. That wasn't the case with Nissy. His whole family that was here stayed with him for a couple days in the room letting him rest and comforting him. Don't think he was that weepy or sad, it's just VERY hard to adjust for some of us when we get here. It can be very confusing and sad, until you start to feel the differences.
So the other day he came out and said he was ready, so we did it up grand! We sent him off to get his welcoming pampering. He got cleaned furs, a spa treatment, massage... you name it! Needless to say that put a big ol' smile on his face! And then he started to realize something... MOUSES! Why hadn't he noticed it before, he asked... I told him, the sadness masks the healing that goes on when you cross. When he realized he'd been fully restored to health... well let's just say I haven't seen such a happy cat in such a long time. He tore off like a wild cat, happy, chasing everything he could find smaller than him... He found a nip field all by himself! Mouses! Birds! Fish! I think he probably passed out somewhere in the field for a little while from excitement! Needless to say, back to the groomers he went... MOL. And then yesterday we did his welcoming banqet. It was HUGE. So huge that it's one of the longest banquets ever. I do think we partied for a solid day and night. There were just so many anipals that wanted to welcome him.
As some of you know there's a special place here for all the animals that never find their furever home... those very souls that so many of you try to help, as Nissy did. Well before we even got to the banquet, he got a very special invite... He was asked to join them for a very, VERY special date. I think he was shook up a little bit as they all gathered around to thank him for all the work he did and to reassure him that his family would continue the work. And then... MOUSES! They named him Ambassador! Why you ask? Because a lot of the kitties there still have a hard time assimilating in with the rest of the RB, shy, scared or just don't have the social skills that most of the rest of us do. So he has a new mission. He's helping kitties that never felt love until they got here to the RB learn how to love. Now they have special hoomins over there and other animals, but for some cats, it just comes best from another cat.
So Jennifer and to the rest of Nerissa's family, I know you're sad but it's ok. Nerissa is in very good paws here and while he misses you, he's already up to his ears in helping others, just as he did there! And to all of his furiends, please keep up the fight. One day hoomins will stop the excuses and go to no-kill shelters.

*wipes leaky eyes again* I have been sobbing since 30 April when my buddy Nissy ran off to The Bridge. I have a hole in my heart. Your description of his arrival at The Bridge is beautiful I bet even Pepi is thrilled to make NIssy all comfy. Please tell him his Savvy loves him still and misses him. We will watch out for Peep#1

Thank you.

What a beautiful post. We're so sad that Nissy had to leave but we're glad he's in good company at the Bridge.

What a nice tribute. Tell Nissy to say hi to Puz, Rudy, Ali’s sisfur Sasha Britton who left the same day he did and all the cats that came before me.
